This hymn came to mind the other day while talking with a friend about our local eagle family. Their magnificent home is at the top of a huge tree on the east bluff above Hwy 16. For the past few weeks the eaglets have been very vocal in their requests for food. Their parents were scrambling to keep up with the children’s demands! But it is quiet now. I guess the “kids” are maturing. Time to leave the nest!
I could not count the number of times I have played this beautiful piece as a solo or accompanied singing at gatherings. The verses are poetry but the chorus is breathtaking….like watching a magnificent eagle soaring the length of the Lagoon in Sylvan Park. Quite a sight….
“And he will raise you up on eagle’s wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of his hand.”
