One More Musical Piece from Heidi Dybing

We aren’t quite done yet!  When we were kids today was known as Easter Monday and we didn’t have school.  So this is Easter Monday’s piece.  Plus we wanted to include it!

When we lived in Eden Prairie we were members of a large, vibrant congregation called St. Andrews.  Our senior adult choir sang this piece every year and it was FUN!

Ride On, King Jesus is the final piece of a vocal trilogy arranged by L. Fleming in 1973.  All three are based on Negro spirituals.  Here are the words:

When I looked around to find someone who’s gentle and kind, someone to show the way, I look to Jesus and I pray….

When I need someone to hear, to help me conquer my fear, when I can’t find the way, I look to Jesus and I pray….

RIDE ON KING JESUS, NO MAN CAN HINDER YOU.  RIDE ON KING JESUS, RIDE KING JESUS, RIDE TO ME!

I would like you to close your eyes again and picture the four part choir singing this triumphant piece acapella.  The all caps part is the men’s section and it is especially vibrant!!  I think you can figure out where it is in the piano solo version!

RIDE ON!

P.s.  Tomorrow we have something funny we are sending out.  We all need to laugh!
